EMX’s Adak project is located in the world-class Skellefte mining district, 20 kilometers northwest of Malå. It is 40 kilometers north of the Kristineberg mine, and 50 kilometers northwest of the Maurliden mine, both producing Zn-Cu-Pb-Au-Ag for Boliden. In late 2016 the Adak project was acquired by Boreal Metals Inc., (BMC). EMX holds an equity ownership in BMC plus an uncapped 3% NSR on the property. See Company news release dated November 22, 2016 for more details.
EMX acquired the Adak license because of significant past production (11 Mt @ 1.57% Cu; SGU Report BRAP 200216) from four mines on the property and limited exploration of untested targets.
Stratiform to stratabound chalcopyrite-rich, high-grade VMS mineralization, hosted by altered felsic volcanic rocks, occurs at the upper contact with andesitic layers, within a two kilometer wide felsic dome. A key felsic volcanic unit remains underexplored throughout the property. Mineralization that may extend along strike and down dip of the historic mines is a key exploration target.
Note: The nearby mines and deposits in the region provide context for EMX’s Project, which occurs in a similar geologic setting, but this is not necessarily indicative that the project hosts similar mineralization.
