Michael Winn
Chairman and Director

Mr. Winn is President of Seabord Capital Corp., which provides investment analysis and financial services to companies operating in the energy and mining sectors. He is also President of Seabord Services Corp., a Canadian company that provides management, administrative, and regulatory services to private and public mining companies. Prior to starting Seabord Capital in January 2013, Mr. Winn was President of Terrasearch Inc. (1997 to 2012) a predecessor company to Seabord Capital. He also worked as an analyst for Global Resource Investments Ltd. (1993 to 1997) where he specialized in the evaluation of emerging oil and gas and mining companies. Mr. Winn has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1983 and the mining industry since 1992, and is currently a director and officer of several companies operating in Canada, Latin America, Europe and Africa. Mr. Winn received a B.Sc. in geology from the University of Southern California.

David M. Cole
President, CEO and Director

Dave Cole has been the CEO and President of EMX since co-founding the Company nearly 20 years ago. Mr. Cole has broad and comprehensive expertise in public capital markets, capital allocation strategies, and the technical aspects of the exploration, mining, and royalty business. These skillsets have been crucial in guiding EMX from a one property junior explorer in Serbia with a market capitalization of approximately C$3.3 million, to a globally diversified royalty company with over 250 mineral assets on six continents, and a market cap of over C$250 million. Mr. Cole was also a co-founder of Standard Uranium Corp. (EMX was a seed shareholder and strategic investor) as well as a Director of Energy Metals Corporation, which acquired Standard Uranium, and then went on to be acquired by Uranium One for US$1.8 billion in 2007.  More recently, he served as Board Chairman of IG Copper, an early-stage EMX strategic investment that sold the Malmyzh porphyry copper-gold discovery in Russia for US$200 million, netting US$67 million to EMX and its shareholders. His stewardship of the Company over the long haul, punctuated by serial big financial wins, have propelled EMX’s growth trajectory and consistently created value for the Company’s shareholders.  

Mr. Cole’s approach as a professional is deeply rooted in his background as an economic geologist. He studied under Dr. Tommy Thompson at Colorado State University, earning an M.S. in Geology after earning a B.S. in Geology at Fort Lewis College. Previous to EMX, he spent 17 years as a geologist with Newmont Mining. At Newmont, Mr. Cole held a number of management and senior geologic positions, gaining extensive global experience as a project, mine, and generative exploration geologist in Nevada, Southeast Asia, South America, Europe, and Central Asia. Mr. Cole’s contributions as a member of Newmont’s exploration team include exploration successes at the world class Carlin Trend, Battle Mountain, Yanacocha, and Minahasa mining districts. Subsequently, he established and managed Newmont’s exploration programs in Turkey while also identifying early-stage acquisition targets in Eastern Europe.

Mr. Cole is keenly focused on new business development ideas and exploration opportunities, and is dedicated to growing EMX into a top tier royalty company while looking out for the best interest of the Company’s shareholders.

Geoff Smith
Director

Mr. Smith brings to the board the benefit of 18 years of M&A and corporate finance experience having advised on or financed many of the largest, most complex and innovative streaming transactions in the past 10 years. Most recently, Mr. Smith served as President & Chief Operating Officer of Carbon Streaming Corporation, an ESG principled company offering investors exposure to carbon credits, a key instrument used by both governments and corporations to achieve their carbon neutral and net-zero climate goals. He had also served as Managing Director within Scotiabank’s investment banking division as part of a team that was critical to both structuring and financing billions of dollars of royalties and streams in the natural resource sector. Mr. Smith holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Queen’s University (Canada) and is a CFA charterholder.

Sunny Lowe
Director

Ms. Sunny Lowe is a CPA, CA with more than 20 years of finance, international tax and risk management experience mostly spent in the mining sector. Ms. Lowe is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Solaris Resources Inc. Prior to joining Solaris Resources, Ms. Lowe was with INV Metals as Chief Financial Officer and at Kinross Gold Corporation, first as Vice President, Internal Audit & Enterprise Risk Management and then as Vice President, Finance, overseeing the company’s External Financial Reporting and Corporate Controllership functions. Ms. Lowe also worked at Inmet Mining Corporation where she held leadership roles across functions including Enterprise Risk Management, Global Taxation & Compliance, and Business Systems & Controls. Ms. Lowe obtained her CPA, CA designation while working at Ernst & Young LLP and a MBA from the Schulich School of Business.

Henrik Lundin
Director

Mr. Henrik Lundin has considerable global experience in the natural resource sector. He has strong understanding of the technical and business side of the oil and gas industry. Mr. Lundin has served as Chairman of Gold Line Resources, a Fennoscandia focused gold exploration company and Senior Reservoir Engineer at Aker BP ASA. Mr. Lundin also held the position of COO of TAG Oil Ltd and was responsible for the global operations of TAG Oil and led the farm-in/farm-out processes in Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Lundin is a Swedish citizen and has a B.Sc. Petroleum Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.

Larry Okada, CA
Director

Larry Okada is a Chartered Accountant in British Columbia and Alberta, as well as a Certified Public Accountant in Washington State. He has been in public practice with Deloitte’s, his own firm, and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP for over 35 years. For more than 30 years, the majority of Mr. Okada’s clients have been public mining companies listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. He is  retired as CFO for public companies in 2016 and remains an independent director for several publicly listed companies. As an independent director, Mr. Okada’s extensive experience in accounting, finance, and corporate governance further strengthens the Company’s Board of Directors in these key areas.
